About Karukerament

Karukerament started out as a podcast about the representation of the Caribbean in cinema and television. The original French version was launched in January 2019. The podcast highlights one film at a time to discuss Caribbean culture and the challenges coming with the representation of this region. In September 2019, the English version of the podcast was launched. You can listen to it here. The website karukerament.com is an extension of the podcast to share more reviews and Caribbean-related cultural content such as music (#streamcaribbean) and literature. You can also read interviews with Caribbean cultural creators.

My story

Bio

Yé Moun La! I go by the name of Patra M on the internets. I’m a 30+ -year-old Afrocaribbean woman from Guadeloupe.

Karukerament is to share my passion for fiction and to keep track of my journey to interpret the different representations of the Caribbean in art.
