I listened to the whole episode. It’s always interesting to see your work analyzed with an original approach. The first draft of Barikad was written in the early 90’s. I’m stunned to see how this movie is still contemporary.

Karukerament cité dans l’édition de Décembre 2022 du magazine britannique Sight & Sound dans une chronique sur Siméon d’Euzhan Palcy.

Il existe peu d'écrits en langue anglaise sur Siméon, mais dans un billet magnifiquement écrit sur son site web karukerament. com, l'autrice et podcasteuse d'origine guadeloupéenne Maëlla Kancel se souvient que le film était souvent diffusé sur la chaîne de télévision française RFO Sat - devenue France Ô - qui présente des programmes des départements d'outre-mer. Au sujet de l'enfant comme personnage principal, Kancel note : "Orélie était juste une représentation d’un personnage enfant que j’avais envie de voir parce que c’était une petite fille intelligente, pleine de vie, déterminée, courageuse, fière… L’incarnation de la coolness qu’un enfant idéalise. Et adolescente, Orélie aurait été encore plus cool."
