PRE-CSIFF 2022 event with Luc Saint-Eloy, Wally Fall and Anyès Noël

As previously announced, the CSIFF 2022 (Conch Shell International Film Festival) is getting ready. Each month, you will be able to attend an event celebrating Caribbean cinema on the filmocracy.com platform. In March, the highlight is on the French Caribbean region with the screening of “MAP-TERNITÉ” [t/n: Mo(fa)therhood] by Luc Saint-Eloy and "Fouyé Zétwal (Plowing The Stars)" by Wally Fall and Anyès Noël. These two films are an invitation to question ourselves on the Guadeloupe of the past, present and future. Both films are available with English subtitles.

Here’s the summary of “MAP-TERNITÉ”

Pierre, a Guadeloupean man in his forties, is struggling with the first pregnancy of his wife Marie-Line. The expectation of this first child turns into an obsession. His nights are regularly filled with nightmares. One of his dreams leads us into the fantastic world of Caribbean tales and legends and on the tracks of Caribbean women. A strange universe awaits us there.

Here’s the summary of “Fouyé Zétwal” :

“On her way to meet her dad, a woman reflects on her life. Along the way, the country looks empty to her and, slowly, memories of past lives are coming back to her. Is it real ? Or is it only a dream ?”

After the film screening, I will host a discussion in French with the filmmakers over a virtual coffee. Live English transcription will be provided.
